Amber wakes up in a hospital. She can"t move. She can"t speak. She can"t open her eyes. Though she can hear everyone around her, no one knows because she"s in a coma. But she doesn"t remember what happened. And she has a sneaking suspicion her husband had something to do with it. Alternating between her paralyzed present, the week before her accident, and a series of childhood diaries from twenty years ago, the narratives build and collide for an ending that leaves readers speechless. This novel delves into the blurred gap between who we are and who we"d like to be.

Book Reviews Alice Feeney’s twisty psychological thriller, Sometimes I Lie, her debut novel, slides neatly into the company of Gillian Flynn’s Gone Girl and Paula Hawkins’s The Girl on the its various plot twists, it’s a dizzying, disturbing read that becomes hard to put down once Amber tells us, "I’m back now and I remember everything.". The book didn't grab me from page 1, but Amber, the main character, intrigued me and the superb writing style kept me going. I'm certainly glad I did. "Sometimes I Lie" turned out to be a masterful thriller with a brilliant narrative that goes back and forth in time very effectively.

Unlike some flash-in-the-pan, too-quick-to-market thrillers, Sometimes I Lie was authentically well-written. As I read, Feeney’s words washed over me, submerging me in Amber’s world and increasing the degree to which figuring out the driving mystery seemed absolutely essential. SOMETIMES I LIE by Alice Feeney is the twisty, addictive psychological thriller that delivers exactly the kind of jaw-dropping, edge-of-your-seat read that its plot summary promises. Go ahead, expect to be surprised and completely entertained: Alice Feeney’s outstanding debut is more than up to the task.

Sometimes I Lie Alice Feeney, Flatiron Books pp. ISBN Summary My name is Amber Reynolds. There are three things you should know about me: 1. I’m in a coma. 2. My husband doesn’t love me anymore. 3. Sometimes I lie. Amber wakes up in a hospital. She can’t move. She can’t speak. She can’t open her eyes.   I read all the reviews and thought, wow this book sounds amazing - I couldn't wait to read it! It started off well enough, and the 'sometimes i lie' gives the story a great edge - that is, if it hadn't of descended into farce. The plot twist are clumsy and forced, and in the end you think - the whole story is a lie, so why did I bother reading it/5(K).

March's book club pick, Sometimes I Lie by Alice Feeney lead to some SERIOUS discussion. We couldn't stop talking about this book at work for weeks.

This is a great book club pick if only for the amount of theories and unanswered questions you can talk about.

I loved the story too. A great page-turner. *WARNING: SPOILERS BELOW* SERIOUSLY, LOTS OF. Sometimes I Lie is a story about the lies we routinely tell each other, but for me, it’s more about the lies we tell ourselves. I think we are probably all guilty of that from time to time, and I think those lies can actually be far more dangerous.

3. Sometimes I lie. This is exactly how the book starts, so I was trying to second guess everything since the very beginning, but I needn’t have bothered as I wasn’t able to foresee a single twist.

The narrative is compelling, fast paced and totally addicting/5. The entry she tore out the book that said “Taylor told me to” was actually her literally telling herself to do it. And again in her diary she’s not who she portrays her self to be.

There’s so many subtle details that leads me to believe that this is the case, The parents leaving Claire the childhood home, the envy Taylor had for Claire. But THIS book, this book had me guessing and trying to figure it out until the very last chapter was read.

Just WOW!. I have not been this fooled since I read 'Behind Her Eyes' which is one book I wish I could go back and 'unread' just so I could read it again. Don't hesitate to buy or spend a credit on 'Sometimes I Lie'.

I just finished listening to the audiobook of Sometimes I Lie, by Alice Feeney, and I need to talk to someone about the ending. The ending left me questioning things that happened earlier in the book that I hadn't questioned before. But I'm still not really sure what to make of it.

I guess there are a few potential answers. ‘Sometimes I Lie is a rare book, combining helter skelter twists with razor sharp sentences.
